1947

  • The church was established and named “Holiness Church of Jesus Christ”.
  • The property was purchased from Hiram J. Carter, the grandfather of Bro. Clifford Witt.
  • Services were first held at both M. Edward and Dora Elizabeth Wright’s house as well as Jack and Inez Whitlock’s house.
  • Until the first church building was completed, services were held at Inez Whitlock’s house.

1948

  • The first church building was built and located in the present day entryway area on the side where the offices are located.
  • Clifford Witt, Jimmy Witt, and Okey Simmons helped Frank Smith to dig the footers

1949

  • The first church building was dedicated on Sept. 25, 1949.
  • Rev. Frank Smith, the first pastor, preached the dedication service.
